As the "heart" of a refrigerator, the manufacturing process of a refrigerator compressor has extremely high requirements for welding accuracy, sealing performance and reliability. Resistance welding machines, relying on the core principle of "resistance heat generation + pressure shaping" (based on Joule's law, controlling heat through current, resistance and energization time to partially melt and pressurize metal workpieces into shape), have become key welding equipment in the refrigerator compressor industry and are widely used in the connection processes of core components. ​

Core Applications in the Manufacturing of Refrigerator Compressors
Welding of compressor housing: The housing of refrigerator compressors is mostly made of low-carbon steel. The upper cover and the cylinder need to be sealed and welded to prevent refrigerant leakage. Resistance welding machines (especially seam welding machines) can form uniform sealed weld seams at the shell joints through continuous current pulses and rolling pressure. The welding process does not require filling of welding wire, avoiding impurities affecting the sealing performance. For instance, in the welding of horizontal compressor housings, the Seam Welding Machine can precisely control the welding current (typically 5-15kA) and welding speed (0.5-2m/min), ensuring that the tensile strength of the weld seam is ≥300MPa and the leakage rate is less than 1×10⁻⁹Pa · m³/s, meeting the high-pressure sealing requirements of the refrigeration system. ​

Welding of motor stator and rotor: The stator core of the compressor motor is composed of multiple layers of silicon steel sheets stacked together and needs to be fixed by resistance spot welding. Resistance welding machines can form tiny weld points at the junctions of silicon steel sheets, which not only ensures the integrity of the core (preventing loosening and noise during operation), but also avoids damaging the magnetic permeability of the silicon steel sheets. For thin silicon steel sheets (with a thickness of less than 0.35mm) of variable frequency compressors, the deformation of solder joints can be reduced and the motor efficiency can be improved by adjusting the welding pressure (50-150N) and the energizing time (10-30ms). ​
Welding of gas valve assembly: The gas valve of the compressor (suction valve, exhaust valve) is a key component for controlling the flow of refrigerant, and is mostly made by welding stainless steel sheets to the valve seat. The "micro-energy welding" technology of the Resistance Welding Machine can precisely control the heat output, preventing the stainless steel sheet from deforming due to overheating and affecting the sealing performance of the valve. For instance, in the welding of exhaust valves, by adopting a double-electrode spot welding structure, the diameter of the weld point can be controlled within 1-2mm, ensuring that the sealing error when the valve is opened or closed is ≤0.01mm, and reducing the decline in refrigeration efficiency caused by refrigerant leakage. ​

Oil pipe and joint welding: The lubricating oil pipe inside the compressor needs to be welded to the casing, motor bearing housing and other components. The weld seam should be free of pores and cracks. Resistance welding machines (especially projection welding machines) can achieve rapid welding of oil pipes and joints by preset projection point positioning. The welding time only requires 50-100ms, and the weld strength can reach over 90% of the base material strength, meeting the vibration and pressure requirements during the long-term operation of compressors (the working pressure is usually 0.8-1.5MPa).
