The friction welding is a method of press welding, using the heat which is from the rotation of workpiece to make the ends to be thermoplastic status, then quickly upset to finish welding. We are a professional manufacturer with years of experience in this industry, supplying various welding equipment ranging from 4 ton to 360 tons. The customized Automatic Welding Machine is also available to fully fit your on-site production needs.
Principle of friction welding:
Friction welding is a pressure welding method that uses the heat generated by mutual friction in relative rotational motion when the workpiece contacts the end surface, so that the end reaches the thermoplastic state, and then quickly upsets to complete the welding. As the core processing principle of the Rotary Friction Welding Machine, this technology is widely applied for circular cross-section workpieces. In actual operation, one workpiece rotates at a high speed about the centerline, and axial pressure is applied to start friction heating. When the specified friction welding time or friction deformation is reached and the joint meets the required welding temperature, workpiece rotation stops immediately, and greater axial pressure is exerted to finish upsetting welding. Usually, the entire welding process only takes a few seconds.
Advantages of friction welding
1.The welding quality is good and stable. The rejection rate is about 0.01%, while the rejection rate of flash butt welding is 1.4%-10%.
2.High welding productivity.
3.The production cost is low. With low rated power and short working cycle, the equipment saves electric energy by 80-90% compared with flash welding. Workpieces need no complex pre-processing or cleaning, and extra filling materials and shielding gas are not required during operation. Most welding flash can be reserved without secondary removal, helping cut processing cost by about 30% compared with arc welding. The structural design of the Friction Welding Machine ensures simple operation and convenient daily maintenance, with a clean working environment free from sparks, arc radiation and harmful gas emission.
